Thanks to the generous financial support of the Share the Joy grant from Polk County Community Foundation and proceeds from Polk County Toy Run, Steps to HOPE was able to share holiday blessings with families who may be struggling at Christmastime.

Through the Adopt-A-Family program, individuals, groups and businesses generously purchase gifts and clothing for children of families who have been affected by domestic and sexual abuse in our own community. PCCF grant and Toy Run monies allow us to fill any gaps as well as provide each family a bonus bag of necessities. This year, enough groceries and household supplies were donated, and, with supplementing, each family received a reusable grocery bag overflowing with canned goods, toiletries and cleaning supplies among other things.

The long-running Adopt-A-Family Program was created to help relieve the stress often experienced throughout the holidays and ease the financial burden that comes along with it. This year, 28 families, including 80 area children, were “adopted”! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped wrap dozens of presents at the Steps to HOPE Wrapping Party, held on-site in the Community Room earlier in December. After 3 full days of wrapping, each child had a bag full of gifts and each family had lots of needed supplies to take home!
