Hazel Leola Jolley McDade went to her heavenly home on December 20, 2023, at the age of 83. She was surrounded by her family at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills Hospice House, Forest City, NC. 

Born in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Timmons and Marie Angelene Robbins Jolley. Hazel was the widow of John Dean McDade. She loved her family and also enjoyed traveling. Hazel was a member of Grays Creek Baptist Church. 

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Wanda M. Weaver (Eric), a son, Kiffen McDade (Amy), a granddaughter, Rachel Brown (Richard), and great-grandchildren, Lela and Waylon; sisters, Margaret Yelton (Hoyt), Linda Byers (David), Gail Morris (Donald); sisters in law, Francis Jolley, Joyce Jolley, and Joan Jolley. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded by her brothers, John Wayne Jolley, James Jolley, and Kenneth Jolley. 

A celebration of Hazel’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Petty Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Ezell and Rev. John T. Edwards officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Petty Funeral Home. 

Burial will be at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Rutherfordton, NC. 

Friends and families are gathering at both the son’s and daughter’s homes. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 374 Hudlow Rd., Forest City, NC 28043.
