It was a less-than-ideal start to Mountain Foothills 7 Conference play Friday for Polk County.

Patton scored the game’s first 25 points, holding the Wolverines scoreless until the second quarter en route to a 64-24 victory in the MF7 debut for both teams in Morganton.

Patton, considered by many as the favorite in the conference race, improved to 8-1 overall. Polk County dropped to 1-5.
