BOYS BASKETBALL: Wolverines stage second-half rally to hand Bradley first win as head coach

Daniel Bradley has his first win as Polk County’s head boys basketball coach.

Gunnar Alm and Antonio Simpson helped lead a second-half Wolverine comeback Wednesday that gave Polk County an 81-72 victory at Madison in a non-conference game.

On the heels of three close losses to open the season, the victory improved Polk County’s record to 1-3. The Patriots fell to 2-4.

Madison built a 43-33 halftime advantage. But Alm had nine points in the third period and Simpson had eight as Polk County roared back to take a five-point lead entering the fourth quarter. Polk then held off Madison in a high-scoring final period to seal the win.

Alm finished with a career-high 31 points for Polk County, with Simpson scoring 29. Lawson Carter had six points, with Avery Harden and Damon Williams each adding five.

Wayne Carson had four points and Avrey Hensley finished with two for Polk County, which will host Landrum on Friday.
