The event will be hosted by the Justice For Talia Petoia Team, a group formed by Petoia’s friends and other community members following the ongoing court case revolving around the shooting. The group was formed to keep Talia’s memory alive while spreading awareness of domestic violence, and to keep a close eye on the court case with hopes of a rightful prosecution.

“We wanted to host a holiday dinner in order to show support to Talia’s family through this holiday season,” said Alexa Stewart-Hughes, a member of the Justice For Talia Petoia Team, on Monday. “We hope for this to be a joyful community celebration full of light in honor of Talia’s spirit.”

The holiday fundraiser dinner will take place at the Harmon Field Log Cabin from 5 to 8 p.m. and all proceeds will be donated to the Petoia-Daniels family, going towards legal fees related to the case with plans to use any extra funds to establish a scholarship in Talia’s name.

Dinner plates will be available with a suggested donation of $10 per plate. The dinner will be pot-luck style with local restaurants, members of the community and Talia’s family and friends donating dishes for the event. If you wish to donate a dish for the community dinner please reach out to justicefortaliapetoia@gmail.com.

Harmon Field is located at 117 Harmon Field Rd. in Tryon.
