Young, Huskey open indoor track season at New Balance Dash

Polk County distance runners Davis Young and Karsyn Huskey kicked off the 2023-24 indoor track season on Saturday, taking part in the New Balance Dash For Doobie at Reagan High School in Pfafftown.

Both runners had an excellent outing. Young finished the race in a time of 10:47.96, setting a personal record for the 3200-meter run. More than 270 boys competed in the race, with Christ School standout and Duke commitment Dawson Reeves recording the top time with a mark of 9:11.56.

Competing in the 3200-meter run for the first time, Huskey posted a mark of 12:26.48. That time qualifies her in the event for the state 2A/1A indoor track championships in February.

Georgy Helmers of Georgia posted the day’s fastest time with a mark of 10:44.14, topping the field of more than 150 runners.
