Polk County Schools has been selected to participate in the prestigious Partners in Education program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

The Partners in Education program is designed to promote partnerships between local arts organizations and public school districts. Through these partnerships, educators can receive professional learning and development in the arts. These learning experiences provide teachers with resources, strategies and understanding that will enable them to include the arts in their teaching.

Partnership teams are accepted into the program through an application and approval process. Polk County has been selected because of its demonstrated commitment to the improvement of education in and through the arts.

Polk County Schools will join SC Team 1996. Tryon Fine Arts Center is also part of SC Team 1996 as are other Spartanburg-area school districts.

“We are so glad to welcome Polk County Schools to our SC 96 Team, and to work together to provide professional development and live professional arts experience to teachers and students throughout our region,” said Ava Hughes, Education Director of the Chapman Cultural Center.

“We are very excited Polk County Schools has been selected for the Partners in Education program through the Kennedy Center,” said Superintendent Aaron Greene. “Polk County Schools has always been committed to providing quality arts education and experiences for students.

“This partnership will only strengthen those efforts as our teachers will have access to incredible professional development to bolster arts instruction in their classrooms.”
