Born in Chicago, IL, in 1938, she lived in Perrysburg, OH, and traveled with her family to Tokyo where she met her future husband, James Kent Lewis. She attended Ohio Wesleyan and received her bachelor’s degree. In 1960 she married and began a family. The young family settled in Tallahassee, FL, where Jackie received her master’s in fine arts from Florida State University. During 34 years in Tallahassee, she taught horseback riding to hundreds of children and adults. She helped establish the Ocholckonee River Pony Club and continued her horsey pursuits throughout her life. An avid animal lover, she had more than 50 pets over the years, from cats and dogs to squirrels and pigs, as well as many horses, all of which were loved as part of her family. In 2004, they moved to Columbus, NC where she spent the remainder of her life.  She was most proud of her marriage of 56 years and family. She was an accomplished sculptor, painter, jeweler, guitarist, singer, and equestrian. She enjoyed singing with the Community Choir, and her time driving her ponies with the Carolina Carriage Club.

She is survived by her son Kent Weston Lewis and daughter Elisabeth Lewis Foronda. Her grandchildren, Calvin, Henri, and Jacqui Foronda, and two great-grandchildren, Melinda and Marcello Foronda. Her passing will leave a void in the lives of those who loved and were loved by her.

Services will be private.
