Quinn Lemley is the present-day embodiment of Rita Hayworth. The vibrant redhead transforms herself into the legendary movie icon whom the press coined “The Goddess of Love” after becoming the most glamorous screen idol of the 1940s.

Lemley will bring her one-woman, music cabaret portrayal of Hayworth to the Tryon Fine Arts Center stage on Saturday, November 4. Doors open for the performance at 7 p.m. and the show gets underway at 7:30 p.m. at the theater, located at 34 Melrose Avenue in Tryon, NC. Tickets are still available for this performance.

“Rita was so resilient. Even though she had the tragedy of having Alzheimer’s in the end, she was the first at so many things, so the show is really about women’s empowerment,” said Lemley talking about why the story of Rita Hayworth resonated strongly with her. “She was the star that built Columbia Pictures. Her beauty was her curse, and what made her famous and made her electrifying on stage.”

Lemley grew up in Indiana and said she was obsessed with the golden age of Hollywood and the whole sense of glamour of that era after being introduced to the music and movies through her grandmother. “The show is an incredible 90 minutes. It’s a roller coaster ride told through the scenes and stories of Hollywood,” Lemley added.

Lemley’s performance of Rita Hayworth: The Heat Is On! is part of Tryon Fine Arts Center’s Signature Series which also includes the innovative bluegrass sound of the Kruger Brothers on February 10, and the GRAMMY-nominated acapella group Kings Return completes the series on March 23, 2024.

“We are absolutely thrilled with this season’s lineup,” TFAC’s Executive Director Marianne Carruth said. “Our patrons are in for a once-in-a-lifetime experience with Quinn Lemley’s portrayal of Rita Hayworth.”
