We know when a lot of people think of Girl Scouts they think of cookies. This would only be natural. However, in Polk County, Girl Scout Troop 10071, based out of Mill Spring, is taking the honor of being a Girl Scout to a whole new level. They are reaching out to local community organizations and asking, “How can we help and make a difference?”

Their first community event occurred on October 6. Over 20 Girl Scouts and family members attended an Operation Christmas Child shoebox packing event at Big Level Baptist Church in Mill Spring.

Together, everyone packed 189 boxes in just a couple of hours! It was an amazing experience for the girls as they took their time, thinking about each child they were packing a box for and what that child might like to receive.
