Tryon is concerned about the current dry spell affecting the county and the surrounding area. Polk County is facing “Abnormally Dry” conditions according to the NC Drought Management Advisory Council.

“We are concerned about the lack of rain as of late, but optimistic that the next few days will bring an enhanced chance of rain,” officials said in the statement. “We simply ask citizens to use good judgment with current water consumption.”

Officials say that the Public Works department is monitoring the situation and is making sure that Town Manager Jim Fatland is staying up-to-date, who will in turn keep the town council informed.

The dry weather looks to continue through this week, with a 10 to 20% chance of precipitation on Friday and Saturday.
