On September 16, Rogers Park in downtown Tryon was filled with excited community members for Unity in the Community’s Annual Praising in the Park.
This event was halted for several years by the COVID-19 pandemic but returned with a bigger and better list of performing artists. Praising in the Park was funded by Polk County Community Foundation’s Kirby’s Rogers Park Fund.
The audience especially enjoyed the opportunity to join the Deninefay African Drum and Dance team on stage, learning and performing an African song to the beat of the drum. Other performers at the event included Azar King Poetry, The Golden Trumpets, Change, Nancy and The Anointed Voices and the Laurens County Mass Choir.
According to several attendees, this year’s event was the best Praising in the Park event that they had experienced, compared to previous years.
