Stadelman to discuss longest railway tunnel in the world at Saluda Train Tales

The Saluda Historic Depot volunteers are excited to welcome Roland Stadelmann as the guest speaker for this month’s Saluda Train Tales, on Friday, September 29. 

His presentation topic is “The Gotthard Tunnel and Railway, Switzerland: WHY DO WE CARE?” The Gotthard Tunnel is the longest railway tunnel in the world, extending 35 miles through the Swiss Alps. 

Stadelmann, a Swiss-born resident of Gramling, South Carolina, began his enthusiasm for trains at age 8  He lived in Switzerland, Germany and Belgium, and has traveled by rail through Switzerland, Germany, Lichtenstein, Austria, Hungary, France, Italy, Belgium and the Czech Republic.

Roland models miniature trains in O, HO, and N-scale. Professionally, he is the President, CEO and owner of Foothills Financial Group, Inc. with offices in Tryon and Landrum. He has been in the financial services industry for over 27 years.

The program begins at 7 p.m. and doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The program will take place at Saluda Historic Depot and Museum, located at  32 W Main St. in Saluda.
