Polk fashions dominant sweep of Chase

Polk County rolled Tuesday to a three-set sweep of Chase, dominating the Trojans in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference volleyball matchup at Polk.

The Wolverines took a 25-13, 25-3, 25-12 win, improving to 12-0 overall, 4-0 in conference matches. The Trojans dropped to 6-3, 1-3.

The match’s opening set stood at 7-6 early, but Polk County would win 37 of the next 45 points in the match, that spanning the remainder of the opening set and the 19-1 lead that the Wolverines built in the second set.

Polk quickly closed that second set, built a 2-1 lead in the final set and never lost the advantage in completing the sweep.

Kylie Lewis led Polk County with nine kills, with Morgan Yoder and Sophia Overholt each adding seven kills. Yoder also had five digs and five blocks while Overholt added eight digs.

Ada Kelley had six kills and 11 digs, with Mia Bradley recording six kills and four digs. Elena Carroll had 11 digs, with Zaelea Eller notching 19 assists and Charley Dusenbury handing out nine assists.

Polk County returns to the court on Thursday, traveling to East Rutherford for another league tilt. Varsity action is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. and is scheduled to be shown live on NFHS Network.
