Smith earns highest score at Southeast Showdown Dance Competition

Bethany Smith, 17-year-old daughter of Mike and Alissa Smith and a student at Dance  Dynamics, recently won the highest score of the entire competition at the Southeast Showdown Dance Competition in Spartanburg, SC. 

She won this honor with her tap routine to “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” Her performance scored higher than 125 dance routines, including solos, duos, trios and groups of all sizes. Smith’s lyrical solo, “This One’s for You,” also earned an Elite Platinum honor at the competition.

  Earning the 5th highest score of the day was Aleigha Blackwell, with her tap routine, “Friend  Like Me.” She also received a special Judge’s Award for best technique, which is a great honor. Blackwell’s contemporary performance earned a High Platinum.

 Fable Barker earned the 6th highest score of the day with her contemporary solo, “Running  with the Wolves.” This dance was also the highest-scoring Petite Soloist performance of the day. Her jazz solo performance was also awarded a High Platinum.  Also in the top ten performances of the day was Jasmine Keele, winning with her tap routine “I Feel Good.” She finished with the 8th-highest score of the day. Keele also won a High Platinum with her hip-hop solo. 

Rounding out the top 10 of the day was the tap duo of Bethany Smith and Aleigha  Blackwell. They placed 9th overall with their dance, “My Mysterious Shadow.” 

Dance Dynamics was well represented and all dancers were spectacular as the results definitely show. Instructors Josh Borges (tap), Katie Cornwell (hip hop), Missy Fincher (tap) and Alyssa Wullimann (lyrical, contemporary and jazz) were very proud of all the dancers.
