Interactive groundbreaking event to be held Friday

 

COLUMBUS—Workforce Homestead, the company developing the Jasmine Apartments in Columbus, is inviting the community to participate in a Frame Raising Ceremony at the site later this week.

Workforce Homestead is a company that specializes in developing affordable housing from Massachusetts to North Carolina, focusing particularly on multi-family housing.

Jim Yamin, President of Workforce Homestead, describes the frame-raising ceremony as more interactive than a traditional groundbreaking, saying it’s “to mark the fact that we are underway, things are rolling, and we want to celebrate that fact.” Everyone from the community is invited to help raise a frame panel that will be included in the final construction.

“We’re hard at work building 70 affordable rental apartments for working families in Columbus NC, and need your hands-on help,” said Yamin. “No experience necessary!”

The Jasmine Apartments will be located at 90 Unity Ln. in Columbus, at the intersection of Highways 108 and 74, right next to the upcoming YMCA.
