Born February 14, 1933, in Greeneville, TN he was the son of the late Virginia Mitchell Bell and Wilson McAmis Britton.

Hayden was fond of traveling to new restaurants and places where he could meet and talk to others. He loved looking at the mountains, watching the leaves fall and then colorful blossoms around his driveway in the spring.  Hayden loved to research stocks and watch the stock channels.  He explored every night with Rick Steves on the TV channel all the places around the world.

Hayden committed to serving early in his life when he answered God’s call.  He was a lifelong minister, for over 60 years, and an influential figure and mentor to many in his congregations. Hayden’s spiritual leadership included East Liberty Presbyterian Church, PA; Ben Avon Presbyterian Church, PA; Smoke Rise Community Church, NJ; Tryon Presbyterian Church, NC.

In addition to his daughters, surviving are his sons-in-law; Peter, Steven, Scott, and Darrell; his grandchildren; Brad, Britt, Katie, James Hayden, Mark, and Hayden; his great-grandchildren Claudia and Ellis. Also, former spouse, Dale Britton. He enjoyed summer with the family swimming in the pool together at his house.

Hayden’s daughters would like to thank the doctors, nurses, nursing assistants and staff of Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care for their supportive care not only to Hayden but to them as well.

The family will hold a private celebration of Hayden’s life.  A private committal service will be held at the Britton family cemetery in East Flat Rock, North Carolina.
