“This started as a way to help local nonprofits in Saluda, Columbus, Tryon and Landrum address food insecurity in our community,” said President of the Chamber, Catina Gray.

“By helping local organizations stock their pantries prior to the winter months, at a time when food is less plentiful, we know we are better equipped to meet the needs of those we serve and help reduce stress in their lives.”

Cato Junge, Harmon Field Music Festival event organizer, has put together an eclectic

lineup of musicians, including Diamonds and Whiskey, the Rich Nelson Band, Misdemeanor, and Tony Slaughter.

“What a great way to help people locally, while also providing a family-friendly event for everyone to attend. It is a win/win for everyone and shows how caring

people are in our communities,” stated Mr. Junge.

Additionally, the family event also includes a craft fair and a kid’s zone, with face painting, bouncy houses and raffle prizes.

North Carolina has the 10th highest rate of food insecurity in the nation, and between 2019-2021 food insecurity in South Carolina averaged 12.60%, making it the 8th-hungriest state according to Bread.org. Approximately 16.67% of individuals and 25% of children in Western North Carolina experience insufficient access to food.

This year’s title sponsors for Feed The Foothills are Michael Belle and Beth Waskom. Nonprofits benefiting from this year’s event include Roseland Community Center of Tryon, Operation Hope of Landrum, Pop Up Pantry of Saluda, and Steps to HOPE and Outreach of Columbus.

Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 at the event and can be purchased online at carolinafoothillschamber.com. Children 12 and under are free with the donation of

a canned good. Other donations can be made via check to Carolina Foothills Chamber,
