When fire crews arrived they discovered that a white Toyota Tacoma had flipped after colliding with a white Nissan Altima at the intersection.

“The intersection is very dangerous coming out of Red Fox or Smith Dairy because of the blind hill on Peniel,” said Captain Dylan Priester of the Columbus Fire Department. “(Drivers should) utilize everyone in the car to look both ways.”

Officials closed Peniel Rd. at the intersection as they worked to clear the wreckage and to treat multiple injuries. The extent of the injuries were unknown as of press time. Peniel Rd. was opened back up about an hour and a half later.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Polk County EMS and Polk County Fire Marshal’s Office were also on scene.
