COLUMBUS—Polk County High School students, faculty and guests will enjoy smooth driving when they next return to the school campus.
Workers from Tarheel Paving in Hendersonville recently completed the first phase of a project to add new paving throughout the PCHS campus.
Areas completed in the initial process this summer include the entrance road to the school, the lot in front of the school office and all three student parking lots, including the two lower lots that were formerly dirt and gravel.
All connecting roads between the lots were also paved, as well as the lot in front of the cafeteria and gym. The small island near the edge of the lot has been removed, creating additional parking in the area.
Polk County Schools plans to finish paving the parking areas behind the school as well as all areas around the baseball, softball and football fields during the summer of 2024.
