TRYON—The Rotary Club of Tryon recently installed Rev. Dr. Allan Purtill as its new Rotary President.

The new Rotary year began on July 1. For 2023-2024, the Rotary Club of Tryon will be led by Purtill, who also serves as Pastor of the Tryon Presbyterian Church.

Past President Carol Browning was thanked for her successful year during the Rotary banquet. Under Carol’s leadership, the Club added almost 20 new members, brought back Shrimpfest, hosted successful fundraisers, awarded $40,000 in college scholarships and performed multiple service projects.

The new President of Rotary International, Gordon McInally, is from Scotland. As a nod to the new Rotary International President, Purtill chose a Scottish theme for our installation banquet. Rotarians arrived with their finest kilts and tartans.
