TRYON—The Board of Directors of Roseland Community Center is happy to announce the 30th Anniversary of RISE!—the Roseland Institute for Summer Enrichment.

The summer camp for children ages 6 to 13 will take place July 10 through July 20 at the Roseland Community Center, located at 56 Peake Street in Tryon.

Although summer recreation has always been a feature at Roseland, the summer program was revamped in 1993 to focus more on enrichment. This year’s program features sessions on personal development, goal setting, etiquette, local history, music, and arts and crafts, along with Spoken Word Artist DeWayne Barton (in partnership with the Upstairs Gallery) and Reaching Your Dreams with Tanisha Akinloye, CEO of Empowering through Beauty.

There will be a field trip to the Vaughan Creek Parkway coordinated by Conserving Carolina, as well as outings to Shipwreck Cove Waterpark and the Epic movie theater. The older children will also have the opportunity to attend a live performance of Aanika’s Elephants at the Tryon Fine Arts Center.

Lunch and snacks are provided daily. All activities come at no charge to participants. Funding for RISE! is provided by the Polk County Community Foundation, The Tryon Riding and Hunt Club, area churches, businesses and individuals.
