Community inspirers honored at celebration

TRYON—The Dreamers Awards Dinner was held on June 25 at the Tryon Fine Arts Center, honoring thirteen individuals who have made a significant impact on the community.

The highly anticipated event was hosted by Tanisha Akinloye, Founder and President of Empowering Through Beauty, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to beautifying marginalized communities through social, educational, spiritual, and economic empowerment.

Ten awards were presented and three elders of the Pea Ridge Community were recognized at the event. Award recipients included Dr. Warren Carson, Dr. Joseph Fox, Donna Tatnall, Carolyn Fuller Miller, Latisha Miller, Ashley Sandahl, David Staley, Nikki Gary, Jennie Smith, and Wilfred McDowell. The Pea Ridge Rd. Legends awards included  Joe Miller,  Rob Roy Staley, and JC Twitty. All were selected based on their extraordinary achievements, unwavering commitment and tireless dedication to serving others.

Nearly 100 attendees were among the esteemed group of guests, including philanthropists, community leaders, local business owners and supporters. The event featured saxophonist Louise Ray Jackson as attendees eagerly awaited the recognition of these extraordinary community inspirers. 

Akinloye expressed gratitude to everyone in attendance, emphasizing the importance of celebrating those who dedicate their lives to uplifting others. 

“Tonight, we gather to honor the dreamers, the visionaries and the soul nourishers within our community. They are the ones who embody the true spirit of Empowering Through Beauty, Inc.,” Akinloye said. “Their remarkable efforts have transformed lives, kindled hope and inspired  countless others to embrace a purpose greater than themselves.” 

Akinloye expressed heartfelt appreciation for the awardees, sponsors, volunteers and all those who contributed to the success of the Dreamers Awards Dinner. 

“The Dreamers Awards Dinner has reminded us that when we come together, we have the power to transform lives and create lasting change,” she said. “Let us continue to inspire, uplift and empower one another on this journey.”
