TRYON—Tryon Country Club held its annual Men’s Member-Member Tournament on June 17 and June 18. There were 16 teams participating in the two-day event, with prizes for Gross and Net winners.

There were two teams who distanced themselves from the field for the Gross title. The team of Simon Behan and Mario Mason played great golf on both days with scores of 69 and 68, but it was only good enough for second. The team of Keith Beaver and Jeremy Yoder played even better with scores of 66 and 67 to win their first Gross Member-Member title.

 For the Net title, the team of Todd Quigg and Eric Ogren opened with a score of 61.5 to take a 1-and-a-half stroke lead over the team of Brian Jones and Trey Dusenbury. On the second day, the team of Travis Aldred and Ethan Waldman had a 63 and the team of Russ Rabenstein and George Torres had a 64 to put pressure on the first-place twosome, but it was not enough as these two teams tied for second place. Todd Quigg and Eric Ogren won their second Net Member-Member title as they had a 63 on the second day to maintain their lead.

On June 26, the TCC Men’s Golf Association played a 1 Best Ball of 4, along with closest-to-the-pin contests on the par 3s. There were six teams vying for the title and the results are listed below:

 

1st place – Hub Arledge, Dave Gunter, Tom Bolling, Ken Watson – 31

 

2nd place – Doug Gelbert, Roger Dehnel, Jerry Perry, Charles McKeller – 31

 

Closest-to-the-pin on #3 – (Green/Brown Tees) Russ Rabenstein 7’ 6”

 

Closest-to-the-pin on #3 – (Forward Tees) Jerry Perry 7’ 8 ½”

 

Closest-to-the-pin on #8 – (Green/Brown Tees) Btrad Rakow 7’ 6”

The TCC Women’s Golf Association played a Captain’s Choice format on June 27, along with a closest-to-the-pin contest on #12. The Ladies had six teams playing and then had lunch after the golf. The results are listed below:

 

1st place – Mary Lou Diekmann, Cindy Caldwell, Caroline Brown, Anne Connolly

 

2nd place – Peggy Henson, Diane Torres, Faith Weathington

 

3rd place – Claudia Law, Ann Gargiulo, Lib McKeller
