LANDRUM—Karen Fowler’s impressive queen-size Cathedral Windows received the Viewers Choice award at the 2023 Landrum Quilt Show in Landrum on June 17.

Featuring some 1,300 individual windows, this quilt also received a blue ribbon in the hand-quilted category and a Sponsor Award from the City of Landrum. 

Some 187 quilts of all sizes and quilted accessories from 40 members of the Landrum Quilters were displayed at the show. Those attending were encouraged to vote for their favorites in 15 different categories. Twenty-four quilters received a total of 59 ribbons, created by the late Landrum Quilters member Judy Gallman.

Other blue ribbon winners were Laurie Blair (3), Sybil Radius (2), Debbie Williams (2), Phyllis Cole, Karen Cummings, Delia Dorn, Jeane Gardner, Elaine Hewitt, Alice Jarratt and Sandy Wolf.

Second-place ribbons went to Elaine Hewitt (3), Delia Dorn (2), Ruth Pollow (2), Sherri Allred, Phyllis Cole, Karen Cummings, Tracy Downey, Willa Garber, Debbie Myers, Darleen Sanford and Sandy Wolf.

Awarded third place ribbons were Phyllis Cole (2), Willa Garber (2), Alice O’Dwyer (2), Connie Wells (2), Sue Burton, Elaine Hewitt, Pat Krinock, Suzie Manning, Joy Sandelich, Darleen Sanford and Debbie Williams.

A Sponsor Ribbon from the Landrum Farmers Market went to Karen Cummings.

Recipients of vendor awards were Karen Cummings (2), Elaine Hewitt, Pat Krinock, Suzie Manning, Merry-Beth Noble, Sybil Radius and Sandy Wolf.

Elaine Hewitt, Alice Jarratt, Delia Dorn and Debbie Williams received ribbons from the Friends of the Foothills Quilt Trail.

The Landrum Quilters sponsor the quilt show every two years which features the work of its members.  Some 1,400 people attended the show from 13 states and two countries. Willa Garber, Suzie Manning and Debbie Myers served as quilt show chairs.
