Tim and Lucy Brannon inducted into Second Wind Hall of Fame

The Board of Directors of Tryon Fine Arts Center and the Board of Tryon Painters & Sculptors voted respectively to nominate Tim and Lucy Brannon for induction into the Second Wind Hall of Fame and were accepted. Tim and Lucy were inducted at the recent board meeting of Tryon Painters & Sculptors.

Tim is a native of Tryon and has on the board of Tryon Riding & Hunt Club and is a past president and director of parking at Steeplechase. He has served at FENCE, in many capacities at Holy Cross Episcopal Church and at Tryon Fine Arts Center as Board Member and president for two terms. He led the Fine Arts Center capital campaign allowing an addition to be built debt free.  Tim was a US Navy officer, attended Spartanburg Day School and graduated from Tulane University with a BA. 

Lucy came to Tryon in 1972 after her marriage to Tim. She has volunteered at a number of local organizations including Tuesday School, Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Polk County Schools, Super Saturday and Lanier Library, and has been a Tryon Concert Association board member, Tryon Garden Club board member, Pearson’s Falls wildflower guide, Tryon Fine Arts Center volunteer. She is on the board of Tryon Painters & Sculptors. Lucy was raised in Jonesboro, Arkansas and graduated from Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans with a BS in art history.

Lucy and Tim moved away from Tryon in 1992, living in several places but returned in 2010 where they picked back up with their community service. Lucy and Time have three children, three grandchildren and two greyhounds. They are deeply committed to making life in Polk County better for all those who live here and wish to be remembered for their tireless support for community charitable organizations.

The mission of Second Wind is to identify and recognize those outstanding volunteers over sixty years who have had a useful and productive life continuing beyond retirement, while others paused to rest. Second Wind Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) organization and welcomes nominations for induction. Request for nomination forms may be sent to carolbrowning72@gmail.com.
