All proceeds raised from the event will go toward funding the K-9 units of the Landrum Police Department. The Landrum K-9 units are trained in tracking, drug enforcement and recovery. The units are taught to search for drugs and explosives, locate missing persons and find crime scene evidence.

The event is being organized by Officer James Owens, Officer James Lacey, and Landrum Police Chief Jason Coffin.

“We’re raising money to be able to equip another K-9 for use on uniform patrol, and with the rising drug epidemic in America, it has found its way to Landrum. It’s hard to smell pills and some other drugs, so it’s only going to add to our law enforcement abilities, and keep the citizens safe,” said Sgt. James Shehan. “That’s what the money’s being raised for. To equip the K-9 and keep the K-9 up.”

Boxed lunches will be provided by Mulligan’s, Village Green’s onsite restaurant. There will also be door prizes and a trophy ceremony for the winner.

Teams are limited to four golfers, with a maximum allotment of 32 teams. The price to enter a team is $350, and team registration forms and fees are due no later than June 1.

Check-in for participants begins at 9 a.m., and the event begins at 10 a.m.

The Village Greens Golf Club is located at 13921 Asheville Hwy in Gramling, SC.
