TRYON–The Congregational Church (UCC) in Tryon celebrated ‘Church Beyond the Walls’ on Sunday, April 16.
After a brief worship service in the sanctuary, Pastor Meghan Young sent all out for a morning of service projects with a blessing, “Our worship has ended. Now our service begins.” Following the service projects, groups gathered for lunch back at the church.
There were projects for all ages and abilities:
Delivering Joy – This group delivered homemade muffins and cards to and spent time with homebound and sick church members and friends.
Outreach Planting – Weeding, planting, and mulching in the flower beds of a few of the affordable/supportive housing units on the Outreach campus.
Habitat Landscaping – This group participated in landscaping a Habitat for Humanity build.
Letter Writing & Advocacy. This group gathered in the Church Fellowship Hall to write letters to those who could use a kind word, as well as write letters advocating around causes that impact our neighbors.
As has now been the case every year, ‘Church Beyond the Walls’ at the Congregational Church (UCC) in Tryon has been held appropriately on the Sunday after Easter, celebrating the Resurrection and love for our neighbors.
