TRYON – As spring continues to warm the air, many people may be looking for somewhere to enjoy nature.

Polk County has several wonderful trails that are perfect for hikers just beginning or those who’ve been wandering in the woods for years.

Vaughn Creek Greenway, located just off New Market Road in Tryon, is an easy out-and-back trail. The trail is .8 miles each way, so it’s one of the shorter trails in the area. According to AllTrails.com, it takes an average of 31 minutes to complete the hike, so this could be a great hike for families.

One of the highlights of the trail is seeing Siller’s Falls on the left of the trail.

According to PolkTrails.com, numerous benches were added to the trail in 2017, along with a picnic shelter along New Market Road. There is now a short trail that goes from the picnic shelter to Siller’s Falls.

Please be careful when accessing this trail, as parking is located in a small open field about 300 feet from the trailhead and you must cross the road and walk along the road in order to get to the trailhead.
