Polk County will kick off its first season under head football coach Dustin Fry at home on August 18.

The Wolverines will welcome Madison to G.M. Tennant Stadium to kick off the 2023 football season. The teams last met in the delayed 2020 season, with Polk taking a 53-7 victory.

The Madison game will begin a slate of five home and five away games for the Wolverines under Fry, who was named earlier this season to replace longtime head coach Bruce Ollis.

Polk will follow its opener with another home date against Tuscola. It will mark the first meeting between the schools since 2012, when the Wolverines earned a 25-20 win in Waynesville. Tuscola will also feature a new head coach in Jonathan Crompton, who like Fry played in the NFL.

Polk County will then hit the road for three straight games, traveling to West Henderson and Landrum to conclude its non-conference schedule before journeying to Patton on Sept. 15 for the start of Mountain Foothills 7 Conference play.

The Wolverines then return home for three games in a four-week span, hosting Hendersonville and R-S Central, then facing Chase on Oct. 13 following an open week.

Polk County concludes its schedule with road games at East Rutherford and Brevard.

While remaining a member of the MF7, the Wolverines will be eligible for 1A playoff competition in 2023.
