As with most baseball scoreboards, the new display at The Bottoms maxes out at nine runs for a total in any inning.

 

Polk County could have used an extra digit Wednesday evening.

 

The Wolverines put together a 10-run third-inning rally, that outburst fueling a five-inning 15-3 triumph over Rosman in a non-conference clash.

 

Polk County upped its record to 6-8. Rosman fell to 2-11.

 

The Tigers scored a pair of runs in the first inning and added another in the second for a 3-1 lead entering the bottom of the third. That advantage would not last long.

 

Lawson Carter opened the inning with a triple, Alex Tipton followed with a double, Angus Weaver walked and, following steals by Tipton and Weaver, Avery Hensley singled to score both and give Polk a 4-3 lead.

 

Noah Harden reached on an error and stole second, with Hensley easily scoring on the play to make it 5-3. With two outs, Alex Perry was hit by a pitch and Gunnar Alm walked to load the bases. Carter followed with a single to left-center field that cleared the bases, with Alm charging around just behind Perry to score and make it 8-3.

 

Tipton singled to plate Carter and Weaver reached on an error that also allowed Tipton to score. Hensley singled and Weaver then scored on another double steal to make it 11-3.

 

Polk then added four more runs in the fourth on a two-run Tipton single and two-run Weaver double.

 

Tipton finished 3-for-4 with four RBI, with Carter going 2-2 with three RBI and three runs. Alm was 2-for-3 with three runs and Hensley finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Weaver added a 1-for-3 effort with two RBI.

 

Polk County finished with 11 stolen bases in the game as well.

 

Harden pitched three innings of one-hit relief to earn the win, striking out six and not walking a batter. Cohen Edwards started and pitched two innings, giving up three runs and five hits.

 

Polk County will travel Thursday to East Henderson for its final outing before spring break.
