Saluda Historic Depot and Museum Board Members visited the Apple Valley Model Railroad Club in Hendersonville on March 28 to present a historical presentation on the development of the Saluda Historic Depot and Museum and historical facts about the Saluda Grade.  Depot historian Dave O’Brien and SHD Board Chairman Mike Reeves gave an overview of the Museum and the history of the railroad’s arrival in Saluda in 1878.

Apple Valley Model Railroad Club members have been strong supporters of the Saluda Historic Depot, donating displays and artifacts and serving as consultants and guest speakers at Saluda Train Tales.

During the presentation, O’Brien and Reeves discussed the construction and history of the Saluda Grade, the current condition of the the Grade, the expected impact of the new Saluda Grade Trail project and answered questions from AVMRC members.
