POLK COUNTY – At the Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday, April 4, it was announced that Congressman Chuck Edwards (NC-11) will soon begin making regular visits to Polk County to better serve the community.
Beginning in April, Congressman Edwards will be staffing office hours here in Polk County once each month. The congressional mobile office, known as the Carolina Cruiser, will park at various locations throughout the county on the third Tuesday of each month, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
“We want to be able to reach and hear from as many folks as possible,” said Tommy Lawter, a field representative for Congressman Edwards.
On April 18, the Carolina Cruiser will be parked at the new Communications Center and former jail located at 40 Ward St. in Columbus.
Citizens can visit the congressional mobile office and meet with staff members if they have questions or concerns, instead of having to go to Congressman Edwards’ office, which is located at 337 N Main St. in Hendersonville.
Originally of Waynesville, Edwards was elected to the North Carolina Senate in 2016 and currently serves in the United States House of Representatives on behalf of North Carolina’s 11th congressional district. The 11th District encompasses 15 counties in western North Carolina.
