Members of Wolverine Wrestling Club took part Saturday and Sunday in The Blue Ridge Battle wrestling tourmanent in Hendersonville.
Team members competed in both the individual tournament and a six-team dual match tournament for high school-age teams. The WWC high school team placed third in Sunday’s dual event, falling 36-15 to Smoky Mountain Wrestling Club and 48-12 to Hendersonville Wrestling Club but scoring a 34-15 win over Blue Devil Wrestling Club.
Hendersonville swept the competition to win the dual title.
In individual competition, Efrain Rivera scored the lone first place for local wrestlers with a win in the Middle School 98 class. Wolverine wrestlers did claim a number of podium finishes, though, including five second-place efforts.
Several Wolverine Wrestling Club members will travel Friday to compete in the Demon Style Duals in Winston-Salem.
