How it happened: On a cool, rainy evening, Taylor tallied first some 10 minutes into the match, stealing a clearing pass by the Avery goalkeeper, dribbling into the box and then finding the left corner of the net.

Early in the second half, Taylor scored again, taking a cross from Jasmine Baird to the back post and hitting a drive from there to up the Wolverine lead to 2-0.

Gabby Savaia closed the scoring for Polk in the waning minutes, getting a cross from Baird, turning around a defender and hitting a shot from some 10 yards out into the upper right corner of the goal.

Polk County had 13 shots, with six on goal.

Wolverine goalkeeper Maggie McCammon posted her fourth shutout of the season.

Next up: Polk County will return to Mountain Foothills 7 Conference play on Tuesday, traveling to R-S Central for a 6 p.m. match.
