To obtain the free passes, applicants must make reservations for their desired event five to 30 days in advance, and two passes may be reserved per person per calendar month.

There are free passes available for seven attractions located within a short drive from Polk County, including WNC Nature Center and North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville, Hands On! Children’s Museum and Team ECCO Aquarium in Hendersonville, Chimney Rock State Park Rock and KidSenses Children’s Interactive Museum in Rutherfordton County and Children’s Museum of the Upstate, which has a location in Spartanburg and Greenville.

Polk County Libraries is thrilled to offer the public the opportunity to experience these local places of interest free of charge.

“We are so grateful that we get to offer these free opportunities to local residents and families so that they can experience some of the attractions in our area, without worrying about the financial burden,” said Youth Services Librarian Jen Pace Dickenson. “We also hope that the Zoom Pass program brings more attention to these amazing attractions and contributes to their success.”

There is one pass per location per day allowed for each applicant, with two exceptions. The Children’s Museum of the Upstate offers two passes available each day they are open, and KidSenses passes are only available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The default pickup location for Zoom Passes is the Columbus Library. In order to pick up passes from the Saluda library, participants can contact Jen Pace Dickinson at jdickenson@polklibrary.org, or call 828.894.8721, extension 284.
