Wainwright, originally from Chapel Hill, N.C., has released twenty-six studio albums, four live albums, and six compilations. His musical stylings range from rock and blues to folk and comedy. He also conducted the soundtrack for Judd Appatow’s comedy film Knocked Up, and has acted in television and film, including roles in Parks and Recreation, Ally McBeal, and M*A*S*H*, where he played the character of “the singing surgeon” Captain Calvin Spauding.

In his live act as well as in his music, Wainwright is known for not shying away from poking fun at his own unique personality, while also spinning satirical songs on the guitar and the piano. His music has also been recognized by critics, being nominated for three Grammy awards, one for his traditional folk music album, High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project.

Wainwright’s performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at tryonarts.org
