Jennifer Fisher, 42 of Columbus, finished in 4th place in the Sassafras Struggle 8k, known as the toughest road race in the state of South Carolina. The 8-kilometer foot race tackled the state’s tallest mountain, Sassafras Mountain in Pickens County, on Feb. 4.

Fisher, a running and fitness enthusiast born and raised in Polk County, finished the 8k race with a time of 43 minutes and 28 seconds, which was the top performance by a female in the race.
