Columbus Corine H. Scoggins “Tootsie”, 85, of Columbus passed away on February 18, 2023.  She was the daughter of the late Oliver Ore and Addie Sue Cochran Horton and the wife of Arthur Scoggins.

She graduated from Green Creek High School in 1955.  Corine was a member of
Green Creek First Baptist Church where she faithfully served with the
Feeding the Faith ministry, the church nursery, and VBS, and providing food for
the sick and shut-ins.  She provided apple dumplings to many homes over the
years when there was sickness or death in a family.   She was an avid
walker, walking 1 mile every morning and 1 mile every evening.  She
participated many times in the Spartanburg March of Dimes walk and the Crop
Walk and enjoyed many years as a member of the Landrum Garden Club.   She
was lovingly known as the Mayor of Green Creek.  Corine worked at both
Landrum Mills and Inman Mills from which she retired.  After retirement, she
received her CNA certificate and worked as a caregiver for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Arthur Scoggins; a daughter
Sheila S. Ford and husband Kerry; a son Stanley Scoggins and wife Bridget;
three grandchildren Amber Stott, and Austin  Ford, and wife Paige and Nathan
Scoggins; and two great-grandchildren Caden Howard and Danny Ray “Dray”
Ford.

She was predeceased by five brothers and sisters, Sue Price, Oliver Defoy
“Buck” Horton, Donald Lee “Archie” Horton, James Woodrow “Jake” Horton and
Jean Sizemore.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:45 pm Tuesday, February 21,  2023
at Green Creek First Baptist Church.  A funeral service will follow at
3:00 pm at the church conducted by Rev. Carroll Page, Dr. Jerry White and
Rev. Frankie Cantrell.  The burial will be in the church cemetery.

Faith,  534 Coxe Road, Columbus, NC  28722.
