Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

When we had to say goodbye to our beloved yellow lab, Bailey, in August, I resolved not to get another furbaby (Tommy wasn’t so convinced). I reasoned that no more early morning walks in the cold and rain, no more constant vacuuming and extra laundry were actually good things. What I really wanted to get away from, however, was the eventual heartbreak of losing a beloved member of the family.

Sarah McDonald is responsible for putting us together with Cooper, a two-year-old English Pointer mix. Sarah has a gift for matching up people with pets! She is a very kind, compassionate and talented person who goes totally out of her way to help animals. She drives to Asheville and other places to pick up foster dogs and works many hours (off the clock) and digs into her own pocket to provide things for the animals. Sarah experienced the heartbreak of the person who had to give Cooper up, due to health issues. She also experienced the joy of seeing him settle in with a caring couple.

I’m sure we all know a “Sarah” who makes life better for others. We are blessed here in Polk County to be surrounded by people of this caliber, and that’s what makes life here so special. Tell that person how much they mean to you….life is short.

Be sure and wave when you see us out walking with our beautiful boy, Cooper!
