Sizemore gymnasts shine at Cherokee competition

Sizemore Gymnastics Academy gymnasts recently competed in The Legend of the Smokies in Cherokee.

 

Collins Kerr and Irie Marlow-Halterman represented SGA at the AAU Xcel Bronze level. Kendall Medina and Aria Springs represented SGA at the AAU Xcel Silver level. Genevieve Ard and ScottLynn Whiteside participated at the AAU Xcel Gold level while Sherlyn Trejo and Kylie Whitinger competed at the AAU Xcel Platinum level.

For SGA’s Bronze team, Kerr received 35.6 all-around from her first on bars with 9.325, first on floor with 9.225 and fourth on vault with 8.7. Marlow-Halterman

raised her all-around from the last competition to 36.175 from her 9.175 on vault, 9.15 on beam, 9.0 on floor and 8.85 on bars.

 

For SGA’s Silver team, Medina continued to improve by raising her all-around to 36.5 for third place from her first on vault with 9.3, fourth on beam with 9.35, tied for fourth on bar with 9.0 and tied for fifth with 8.85. Springs also improved her all-around from the last competition by earning 35.8 from her tie for second on floor with 9.15, 9.1 on vault and 8.95 on beam.

 

For SGA’s Gold team, Ard improved her all-around to 36.3 from her second on vault with 9.25, 9.125 on bars, 9.075 on floor and 8.85 on beam. Whiteside also raised her all-around score to 36.275 for second from her 9.35 on beam, 9.3 on floor and 8.925 on bars.

 

For Xcel Platinum, Trejo earned first place all-around in her division with 36.575 from her first on beam with 9.625, 9.325 on floor, and 9.225 on bars. Whitinger had an all-around of 32.375 from her 8.625 and 8.55 on floor.
