Foothills Dementia/Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group to hold meeting Feb. 22

The next meeting of the Foothills Dementia/Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group will be held on Feb 22. in Columbus.
The goal of the support group is to develop a network for caregivers and provide specific training and additional resource information.
Monthly meetings for caregivers are held at The Meeting Place in Polk County at 75 Carmel Lane, Columbus, on the last Wednesday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The Feb. 22 meeting will feature Dr. Jeffery Viar who will be addressing the identification of physical problems of people with memory disorders.
A pilot program to provide a brief respite for caregivers will be offered free, beginning Feb. 9 and 23, and continuing the second and fourth Thursdays of March and April.
Two hours of free supervised care with Dementia Certified personnel will be provided for loved ones at The Meeting Place. Pre-registration is required and spaces available are limited. Registration and information can be given by Peggy Wyllie at 828-859-6339.
