The first meeting of the Foothills Music Club of 2023 was held on January 12 at Tryon First Baptist Church. The theme for the program was “Blast from the Past.”
Members chose a special selection that they had performed previously to present anew. Works for voice, piano, and bassoon from the 1600s to the 1900s were included. Composers represented were Christian Friedrich Witt, Johann Sebastian Bach, Henri Roubier, Jacques Ibert, and Benjamin Britten.
The dates for auditions for the FMC Young Musicians Scholarship have just been announced. The auditions will take place on March 3-4 at Tryon First Baptist Church. For more information and applications, contact Jeanette Shackelford at (828) 859-0461.
