Polk County soccer coach Lennox Charles recently returned to the pitch as a player, helping CPSL 55 take third place in the 2022 11v11 Carolinas Cup held in Bermuda Run.
Competing in the Over 55 Gold division, CPSL 55 actually finished in a three-way tie for first. But the team’s -4 goal differential proved the tiebreaker, with Kentucky Waterfall (+6) winning the Cup and Curmudgeons International (-3) taking second.
CPSL 55 did record a 2-1 win over Kentucky Waterfall in the final match of the tournament to force the three-way tie.
The Carolinas Cup is a yearly adult event co-sponsored by the North Carolina Adult Soccer Association and South Carolina Amateur Soccer Association. This year’s competition featured more than 70 teams in 11 men’s and women’s divisions.
