Members of the Roseland Community Center Board of Directors are scurrying throughout the Eastside Community delivering “holiday cheer” to senior citizens.

This long-standing program provides gift certificates to local grocery stores, drug stores, and variety stores during the holiday season. This year, the program has been able to expand thanks to generous donations to Roseland from the Polk County Community Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce of the Carolina Foothills, and several anonymous donors.

According to Roseland Vice-President Dr. Joseph Fox, families with children, persons with disabilities, victims of trauma, and many others are included in this year’s distribution.

“It is such a blessing,” Dr. Fox said recently.

Dr. Warren Carson, Roseland President, noted that this has been a great year for Roseland. “Tryon has always been a generous community,” he said. “But this year, clearly their generosity has grown and because of it, Roseland can serve our community members even better. We are indeed grateful.”

Community members are invited to an Eastside Kwanzaa/Watch Night Celebration on New Year’s Eve beginning at 5 p.m. at the Community Center on Peake Street for an evening of food, fun, and fellowship.
