Polk Schools releases update on arrested teacher

COLUMBUS – John Brian Taylor is no longer employed by the Polk County School system.
Polk County Schools announced Monday, Dec. 5 that the system “has separated from employment with former PCHS Business Education Teacher Brian Taylor.”
In a statement to the Bulletin, Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene wrote that Taylor “has surrendered his teaching license and is no longer eligible to be an educator in North Carolina.”
Taylor was arrested on Nov. 15 at the school by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and charged with indecent liberties with a student.
He is scheduled for a court appearance on Dec. 7.
According to Sheriff Tim Wright, the case is still under investigation.
Taylor joined the school system 21 years ago.
The Bulletin has reached out to Taylor for comment but has received no response as of press time.
