Polk County Board of Commissioners meetings to be held Monday

POLK COUNTY–The Polk County Board of Commissioners will have two meetings, back to back, on Monday, Dec. 5. The meetings will take place at the R. Jay Foster Hall of Justice at the Womack Building located at 40 Courthouse Street in Columbus, and will begin at 5 p.m.

The Regular Meeting will begin with a Public Hearing to allow public comments on the Polk County Community Transportation Application, NCDOT Public Transportation Grant Request. Later in the meeting, the Board will hear from Chairman of the Foothills Humane Society Board of Directors JJ Suave, HHSA Director Josh Kennedy, and Mickey Edwards and Laura Baird from Polk County Parks and Recreation, among others.

Once the Regular Meeting is adjourned, there will be an Organizational Meeting. This meeting will include a swearing-in ceremony for incoming board members, with oaths being administered to Commissioner’s Elect Paul Beiler, Tommy Melton, and David Moore.

Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of the Board will be appointed, and there will be motions to approve meeting rules and procedures, and the schedule for regular meetings for the first half of 2023.
