Polk County Middle’s preseason tuneup Saturday helped fuel already-high expectations for the upcoming season.

 

Polk Middle hosted seven other programs for the inaugural Wolverine Den Duals, a day full of wrestling at Polk County High School as teams prepare for the soon-to-start regular season.

 

The Wolverines had a great day, going undefeated and reaching the championship match of the event before falling to Travelers Rest, S.C.

 

Polk Middle defeated Bethel Middle, Macon Middle and Cane Creek Middle in pool action, then knocked off Canton Middle in the semifinal round to reach the final.

 

Also competing were Apple Valley and Robbinsville.

 

Polk Middle had three wrestlers go 5-0 for the day – Brody Wolfe, Conner Ahlert and Styler Blackwell.

 

The Wolverines open the regular season on Nov. 21 at Canton Middle.
