Veterans Day Parade, Ceremony to be held in downtown Columbus

The Polk County Veterans Association (American Legion Post 250 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9116) will be hosting the Veterans Day Parade on Friday, November 11, on the National Holiday.

 

The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. from Park Street (Bubbles Car Wash) and proceed southwest on E. Mills Street through downtown Columbus, turning left on Courthouse Street and left on Ward Street to the Veterans Park, where the Veterans Day Ceremony begins immediately after the parade.

The volunteers organizing the event have been hard at work preparing for this year’s parade and have sent participation application forms to all groups that participated in previous years.  

 

If you have not received an application for participation and would like to be a part of this year’s parade, please contact the Parade Participation Chairman, D. Michael Collins at (864) 457-3115 or email mc3115@aol.com. You can also go to www.polkcounty.org and click on the Polk County Veterans Pages to print a copy of the application and waiver forms. Mail applications to the Patriots Salute to Veterans Association at PO Box 654, Columbus, NC 28722 or email the forms to mc3115@aol.com.
