Amelia “Nicki” Calhoun Truluck passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, after a long bout with Parkinson’s.  Nicki was born in Tryon at the old St. Luke’s Hospital on December 31, 1950.  Educated in the Tryon City Schools, she graduated from Ashley Hall in Charleston, S.C.  She attended Converse College where she studied voice.

She was blessed with a beautiful operatic voice but decided against making it her profession.  She sang in Tryon’s Holy Cross Episcopal Church choir from an early age until her marriage.  She then sang in the Lake City, SC Presbyterian Church choir for many years.

She was married to Jim Truluck for almost thirty-seven years.  She and her husband, a career dentist, founded and ran Truluck Vineyard and Winery in Lake City.  Their wines won numerous medals and awards at wine shows.  Nicki served on the Lake City Presbyterian Church Session and she and Jim were dedicated to Meals on Wheels.

A celebration of life was held at Lake City Presbyterian Church, preceded by a private burial, on Sunday, December 5.

A memorial service will be held in Tryon at Holy Cross Episcopal Church on Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m.  A reception will follow at Mimi and Jerry Pospisil’s home.

Those she leaves behind will remember her lovely face, warm personality, and great sense of humor.  She will be missed more than words can say.
